Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Gal 5:26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
In the begining of the the Church of Jesus Christ the Gospel was preached by the Spirit and people believed and were baptized in water and the Apostles laid hands on them and they were baptized in the Holy Spirit. They continued stedfastly in the Apostles doctrine, in fellowship, in breaking of bread and in prayers.
If you look in Rom 6 you can see that through water baptizm our flesh is crucified with Christ, with the affections and lusts, just as it says here in Gal 5:24.
Paul said, I am crucified with Christ, never the less I live, yet not I but Christ lives in me. The life that I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of (faith toward) the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. Gal 5:25 says If we live in the Spirit..., we are baptized into Jesus' death and we are raised with Him to live in the Spirit, walk in the Spirit. To walk in the Spirit we must be baptized in the Holy Spirit. The Lord said ask and you shall receive. And we must continue with Jesus in the Apostles doctrine, reading the Word, meditating in it, and allowing the Holy Spirit to teach us (1John 2:27) and lead us to walk in it, being doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving ourselves. Jesus said if you continue in my Word you will be my disciple indeed and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free. As you continue with Jesus this way the Holy Spirit wil be sanctifying you through His Word (John 17) His Word is truth, washing you in the water of His Word, and you through the Spirit will be putting to death the deeds of your flesh, and you will live with Him. Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. He that seeks after righteousness shall be filled. If you seek Him with all your heart you will find Him. You have to want this, you have to ask the Lord to do this in your life.
Jesus made it very plain in Matt 7 that not everyone who says Lord, Lord, is going into the Kingdom of Heaven, but they who do the will of His Father. The Father will lead you by His Spirit to do His will, but you must put to death and overcome the affections and lusts of your flesh through the Spirit leading you, continuing in his Word.
John the Baptist said in Matt 3:9, And think not to say within yourselves we have Abraham to our Father, for I say unto you that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And in Luke 3:8, bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance... Do not be deceived by the false teachers of today into thinking that because you are "saved" and You call Jesus "Lord, Lord" that you are going into the kingdom of heaven. You must continue with Him, rooted and grounded, and not moved away from the Hope of the Gospel. You must be led by the Spirit to put to death the deeds of your body and do the will of the Father from the heart. If you will love Him and fear Him and continue with Him He will love you and grant you His true grace and mercy to do so. God bless.
