1Jn 1:1-10, That which
was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes,
which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of
life; For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear
witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and
was manifested unto us; That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you,
that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is
with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we
unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we
have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no
darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in
darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he
is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus
Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a
liar, and his word is not in us.
When we
sin, even a “little” sin, against our brother or sister, we need to go to them,
humble our self and repent, and make it right with them, and with God. In Luke 17:3&4, Jesus said, Take heed to yourselves: If
thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And
if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn
again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. Our pride wants us to just brush it off and say,
that’s no big deal, that’s just a little thing, or, I will look foolish, etc.
But it is very important that we keep things clear between us and our brothers
and sisters, between us and God , and in our conscience. Otherwise, we have “little”
unconfessed sins building up and our character flaws are not being dealt with,
our hearts are being hardened, our love is growing cold “little” by “little”,
and eventually we have a “big” problem and broken fellowship with each other
and with God. So, humble yourself, go to your brother or sister, confess your
fault to them and to God. Ask God to cleanse you of that sin, acknowledge it as
sin. He will answer and continue to cleanse you. And, learn to walk in love and
forgiveness. I heard a person say once that God told him, ‘The little things
are the big things.” No matter how foolish you feel, even if people laugh at
you, you are free, you are clear, and you walk on with no guilt, cleansed by
the Blood of Jesus. You will be getting better and better, and soon you will be
able to love more consistently. You will continue being conformed to the image
of your savior, Jesus Christ. Praise God! Don’t let anyone condemn you or make
you feel guilty. Just stand up and rejoice and walk on with Jesus. Jesus said
in John 8:12, I am the light of the world. He that follows me shall not walk in
darkness, but shall have the light of life.
