A Doer Of The Work

Greetings in the name of Jesus! This is Rob Haymes. This is 15 Minutes With Jesus. Wherever two or three are gathered together in My name, Jesus said, there am I in the midst of them. To those of you who love Him in truth: mercy unto you and peace and love be multiplied. 

Thank you Lord God! We thank you Lord for this day. We praise you Lord; we thank you for this program: A Doer Of The Work. Let’s turn to Psalm 103:1-22, Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. The Lord executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. He will not always strive with us, nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and it’s place remembers it no more. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children's children, to such as keep His covenant, and to those who remember His commandments to do them. The Lord has established His throne in Heaven, and His Kingdom rules over all. Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His Word, heeding the voice of His Word. Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, you ministers of His, who do His pleasure. Bless the Lord, all His works, in all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul! Verses 17&18, But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children's children, to such as keep His covenant, and to those who remember His commandments to do them. Jesus said, If you love Me, keep My commandments. In 1 John 5:3, the Apostle John said, For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, or do His commandments, and His commandments are not grievous.

Let’s turn to James 1:21-25, Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the Word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 

But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. Amen. 

Chapter 4, verse 17, Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.  Jesus said, I only do what I see My Father doing. So He leads us by His Spirit, and as He is leading us, if we know what He wants us to do and do not do it, then it is sin; we are resisting the Holy Spirit. When we are in a situation, we remember His Words, as the Holy Spirit brings it up in our hearts; we yield to Him to keep the Word of God, and we do that work, and we shall be blessed. 

As I was receiving this program, I was reminded of Corrie Ten Boom. Corrie Ten Boom and her family: her father and her brother and sisters and their families, helped to save over 800 Jews from the Nazis during World War Two. And they ended up being betrayed and sent to the concentration camps in Germany. And while Corrie was in the concentration camp Ravensbruck, they forced the women to strip naked and take showers in front of the male guards. This was extremely grievous for them. It is a long and very important story of what happened to Corrie and her family, and I recommend that you read about it in the book The Hiding Place, by Corrie Ten Boom. Also they produced a movie based on the book, The Hiding Place. Years later, as Corrie was traveling around the world and speaking for Jesus, she was speaking at a church in Germany about forgiveness, and after the meeting, one of those men who was a guard at Ravensbruck came up to her and reached out his hand and said to her, “A fine message! How good it is to know that, as you say, all our sins are at the bottom of the sea! You mentioned Ravensbrück in your talk,” he was saying. “I was a guard in there. But since that time, I have become a Christian. I know that God has forgiven me for the cruel things I did there, but I would like to hear it from your lips as well.”–again the hand came out–“will you forgive me?” Corrie looked at him, and she recognized him, and she could not shake his hand. So in her heart, she asked the Lord to help her, to help her to forgive that man, and as she reached out her hand, the Holy Spirit came upon her and the love of God filled her heart, and she forgave that man. As she took his hand she said to him, with tears in her eyes, “I forgive you Brother, with all my heart!” By the time she took his hand, she had forgiven him. If she had hardened her heart, and refused to forgive him, she would not have been forgiven herself. She remembered Jesus’ Word, Forgive, and you shall be forgiven, and she did it, and the mercy of God came upon her and that man, and they were both filled with His love.

What is your situation? Is there someone that hurt you, or did you wrong, and you know you need to forgive them, but you feel like you can’t? Do you love Jesus? Are you thankful for what He did for you that you might be forgiven? If you will love Him and keep His commandment to forgive, and ask Him for grace to help you to forgive that person, and then take that step and reach out your hand or speak that word, “Father, I forgive them for what they did to me…”, God will help you; His mercy will be with you, and you will be forgiven; you will be freed from your sin of not doing His Word, what you know to do. So it is with all His commandments: Give, and it shall be given, show mercy, and you will receive mercy. If you will not show mercy, as God is leading you in various situations, the time will come when you need mercy, and you will not receive it.  

If you seek after righteousness, you shall be filled. But if you refuse to do His Word; if you willfully forget His work, you will reap the consequences. 

Let’s turn to Mat 18: 21-35,  Then Peter came to Him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times? Jesus said to him, I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all. 

Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me what you owe! So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay you all. And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you? And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses. Consider all that Jesus suffered for you upon the Cross for your sins, not for His sins; He didn’t have any; for your sins. He loved you and suffered for you that you might be forgiven and He died for your sins. Will you then refuse to forgive your brother, your sister, your mom, your dad, your teacher, or your friend? It doesn’t matter how much they hurt you or did you wrong, Jesus has suffered much more for all of us. And if you want to save yourself, you better humble yourself now and ask God to help you to forgive that person. If you will be a doer of the Word, in this and every other matter, you will overcome. And if you refuse, to you it is sin, and you will suffer for it. 

Psalm 103:17&18, But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children's children, to such as keep His covenant, (remembering His sacrifice on the Cross; the forgiveness of their sins), and to those who remember His commandments to do them. This is love, that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not grievous. Greater love has no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. Lay down your hurt at Jesus’ feet; lay down your pride; your pain; your resentment, and forgive them from your heart, and you shall be forgiven. Do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good.

Eph 4:29-32,  Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. In the King James Version it says, …even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. It is for Christ’s sake that we are forgiven. When we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness. The only reason that we have forgiveness of sins is because of the sacrifice of Himself that Jesus made upon the Cross: His suffering for our sins in His own body and the shedding of His precious, sinless Blood, for it is the blood that makes atonement for sin. 

Jesus was tempted in every way that we are, and yet He never sinned; He never yielded. He is the spotless Lamb that was offered upon the Cross at Calvary, and with His shed Blood He made atonement for the sins of the whole world, that whosoever will come to Him, believing in Him, and confessing their sins, shall receive forgiveness and shall be cleansed in His Blood, through faith in His Blood, from all unrighteousness. This is His Covenant in His Blood.  And then we must follow on to love Him and know Him and do His Words, being not forgetful hearers, but doers of the work, denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and following Him every day. Amen.
